So I ditched the Mexican stuff altogether, decided to build my own from scratch, more or less. I purchased some CB IDF pattern FI manifolds and rails, and a whole bunch of pipe and then went from there...

Thanks! The TB bolts to the shroud with a nice thick flange in between. The flange is hooked to the tube going through the shroud and into the intercooler. Oil cooler has gone external, will be mounted down by the torsion tube. Intercooler radiator will be mounted on the opposite side. Both will have ECU controlled fans installed on them. ECU is now MS3/MS3x

a bit hard to see do the tubes that are where carbs would go have velocity stack type flow or are they just welded tubes?

They are just tubes. I considered doing the stack effect, but didn't have any to work with.
