V3.0+ sounds bad ass!

Well look at it this way.... If you were to build or buy a Megasquirt 3 and 3X on a fully populated V3.0 or V3.57 board you'd spend $455 to $650 and on a fully sequential (fuel and spark) 4 cylinder motor you'll have like 13 available medium to high current GPOs, most of them capable of PWM control. Plus a 0-12V square wave tach drive, 3 additional ADCs, flex fuel in, an input triggered on 12V and 3 ground trigger inputs. What CAN'T you do with something like that? Oh yeah don't forget a USB port and onboard SDcard datalogging! Plus there are plans for future niftys like VVT support and improved serial coms in later firmware versions.
